Athens Metro System

The Athens Metro system was expanded and modernized for the 2004 Olympic Games.  It currently has three lines: Green, Red and Blue.

Line 1 (Green Line) connects Piraeus Port to Kifissia, passing through central Athens.

Line 2 (Red Line) connects Anthoupoli to Elliniko, covering major stops like Syntagma Square and the Acropolis.

Line 3 (Blue Line) connects Dimotiko Theatro to Athens International Airport, passing through Monastiraki and Syntagma.

It is now possible to travel from the airport to central Athens and the on to Piraeus.  The line perfect for passengers arriving in Athens by cruise ship or ferry.
